The nearest airport is Burlington International Airport (BTV), about a 1-hour drive from Middlebury (south on Route 7).
Transportation to Middlebury:
BTV has various rental car options. If you are traveling by plane, we recommend renting a car, since we're in a rural area without reliable bus, taxi, or rideshare options.
Vermont Translines serves Middlebury College with 2 buses per day: one morning bus (departs BTV at 5:13am, arrives Middlebury 6:17am) and one afternoon bus (departs BTV at 1:18pm, arrives Middlebury 2:37pm). You can purchase tickets and view schedules at the Vermont Translines website.
Middlebury's Amtrak station (MBY) is on the Ethan Allen Express line, which runs daily from NYC Penn Station to Burlington, VT by way of Albany.
The train departs NYC at 2:19pm and arrives in Middlebury at 8:45pm.
You can purchase tickets and view schedules on the Amtrak website.
Please note that on the Amtrak website there are two options for Middlebury: Middlebury, VT - Amtrak Station (MBY) and Middlebury, VT - Middlebury College (MIY). When purchasing tickets, be sure to select MBY as your destination. This will reduce the cost of your ticket and ensure you arrive at the Amtrak station in the town of Middlebury.
The Amtrak station is a 5-minute drive or a 10-minute walk to the Middlebury Inn. There is no car rental service available at the train station, nor is there public transportation. Please plan accordingly.
If you're driving from out of state, consider checking out the scenic byways of Vermont to make the most of a summer drive!
Free parking is available at the hotel and on Middlebury's campus. Campus parking permits will be provided.
