Year 6 were very excited to have received a reply from their French penfriends. They are getting to know each other a little bit more before officially meeting each other at Micklem in June!
In Year 4, the children have been doing some wonderful writing inspired by The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. They wrote their own sections of the story including the moment when Edmund went through the wardrobe into the world of Narnia. Take a look at Eliza and Iosif's super sentences.
In Year 1, the children have also been doing some fantastic writing. They read a book called Beegu where an alien is stranded and lost on planet Earth. Take a look at Wyatt's rewriting of the story. The children then created their own aliens who were lost or missing! Alessya made Blob who has green legs and orange eyes. Well done Year 1! You are amazing writers and we are so proud of you.
The Year 5 children have been getting creative this half-term. They worked so hard to develop their sewing skills and are now able to do a range of stitches. They used all of this to design and make their own cushions. Well done Year 5... and well done Year 5 adults for all the needle threading and tying of knots!
Your children have had a brilliant Spring Term and shared so many fantastic experiences. We hope that you all have a wonderful and restful break.
See you on the 22nd!
To end this term at Forest School, we relaxed in the hammock, built dens and cooked on the fire!
The children had great fun working in teams to hide eggs and find them in exchange for a marshmallow to roast on the fire!
Micklem's Art Club were offered a fantastic experience last week! Some of the Year 1, 2 and 3 children took the train and then the tube to visit The National Gallery in London.
The art historian, who led the session, commented on how well-behaved everyone was and how enthusiastic the children were. They had so many questions and were so keen to share their own knowledge.
We can't wait to work with the gallery again next term.
This year, we have introduced Class Dojo. A way of celebrating individuals and classes that are following our school rules of:
Be Kind.
Show Respect.
Aim High.
Children will be able to receive one or two points for these core values from any member of staff. We will keep an eye on which individuals, classes and house groups are being the kindest, most respectful and ambitious over the year.

This week Ayla has really impressed us with her writing In English she wrote some really brilliant captions for images in our story.
Year 2
Archie - Great independent learning from Archie this week. It is great to see him writing his ideas and working on spelling and full stops. It is great to see him reading the questions to answer them in maths. Keep it up.
Mya - Fantastic perseverance from Mya. Mya used all our learning time and a bead string to answer a tricky question at the end of the lesson. "A big spoon is 15ml and a teaspoon is 5 ml." Mya used a number line to find the volume of a big spoon and three teaspoons.
