Bell Peppers, also known as Capsicum annuum, are versatile vegetables that are another staple in my household. My mom initially made Roasted Red Pepper soup with grilled cheese for me as an alternative to tomato soup due to my acid reflux, but it quickly evolved into one of the most commonly made soups in my house.
Bell Peppers are domestic crops, and due to this there is no danger of them going extinct anytime soon due to their adaptability. There are a couple of different varieties, each known for their different colors and flavors. They are endemic to Central and South America

The bell pepper is the only member of the genus Capsicum that does not produce capsaicin
Their flavor gets sweeter as they ripen, making green bell peppers much less sweet than red ones
Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are females and peppers with 3 bumps are male.
