The Miamisburg Middle School counselors are here to help your child with any social, emotional, or academic problems that are barriers to their learning. This is done through individual counseling, group counseling, teacher/parent meetings, mediations, and referrals to community resources.
Confidentiality is always kept between the student and the counselor on any social, emotional, or personal problems they are experiencing. Confidentiality will be broken if the student gives permission or if the student is an imminent danger to themselves or others. When confidentiality is broken, information can be released to the superintendent, principal, parent, law enforcement officials, and/or child protection services. Please keep in mind that a school counselor is not a therapist, but a problem solver. If you would like your child to receive therapy, we can recommend an agency that will help direct you to an appropriate therapist.
In addition to helping your child learn, we also make their schedule, coordinate 504 Plans, provide character and career lessons as needed, consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, & parents, and respond to a school crisis or emergency situations.
Topics we can help students with:
New student transitions
Friendship conflicts/Making friends
Stress Management
Divorce
Abuse

Behavior issues
Anxiety
Self-esteem
