Relevant Prior Work Experience

Physics and Chemistry Teacher at C2 Education 2018-2019

Prior Research

Active site determination of MoS2 film investigated by temperature-programmed desorption spectroscopy

Research Interests

I am interested in studying how teachers' use of molecular level visualizations in the classroom affects student understanding of those concepts. Specifically, I look at student storyboards before and after viewing VisChem animations to determine what features appeared at each stage, and what changes were made from pre- to post-viewing of the animations, to determine the salience of features to students when depicting the molecular level.

Dissertation Topic

High school chemistry students’ changing ideas about the molecular level as a result of implementation of the VisChem Approach

Career Plans

I would like to teach chemistry at the university level.
