Through my experience as an undergraduate research assistant, I’ve built strong skills in career and self-development, communication, and critical thinking. My work on the antimicrobial peptide mechanism of action has deepened my understanding of how future medications could function and has improved my ability to analyze scientific literature. Both of which are skills that will be invaluable as a future physician. I’ve also learned to communicate complex research findings in a clear and accessible way to those without a scientific background. Most importantly, research has challenged me to think critically and creatively, especially when experiments didn’t go as planned, pushing me to explore new solutions.
