NACE Competencies

This project has helped me develop scientific communciation skills. I have learned how to articulate my findings and research in a clear and concise manner in a way that can be understood by those not in the field. Being able to communicate a difficult and long process to those not familiar with the terminology is useful in the scientific field as results and their impact are important for all readers, not just those in the science community.

This opportunity to approach the scientific method outside of a predetermined structure, like in lab curricula, made it a road with unexpected setbacks and showed me what goes into gaining reliable and valid results. I had a previous understanding of how questions are answered but I now saw the challenging process that led me to think critially and allowed me to develop into a thoughtful and resilient researcher. 

This project has allowed me to grow as a profesional in terms of time management and scheduling. Being in charge of the amount of time and work that I wanted to put into my project allowed me to learn skills in professionalism, specifically how to use time effectively and put forth my best foot for the best outcome.
