Hadrotettix is a genus of grasshoppers that are known most for their distinct three-banded wings and colored femurs.
This genus is comprised of 3 species: H. magnificus, H. trifasciatus and H. scotodes.
These species are distributed across the south-central United States, extending to Durango, Mexico.
Delimitation of these species have already been determined based on morphological characteristics.
These locations are where the lab collected the species samples. H. magnificus are located in the blue, H. trifasciatus are in the red and H. scotodes are in the purple.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether the three species that were originally delimited based on morphological differences are supported using molecular data.
This study used DNA sequences and morphological characteristics to evaluate.
The hypothesis is that the genetic data will be consistent with species designations and each species will form a unique genetic clade.
