Through the undergraduate research program at Miami University, I have been very fortunate in that it has enabled a breath of opportunities for me while enhancing the education experience of my degree. Specifically, through attending conferences and workshops, I have been able to significantly develop my career readiness and transferable skills outside of my undergraduate laboratory experiences. Not to mention the importance of good communication skills and level of professionalism expected through dissemination of research.
I also would be remiss if I did not highlight all of the intelligent and resilient women who have been my mentors through this project. Although current legislature may be impacting the funding and opportunities available within research and higher education, I cannot express enough the impact that a diverse laboratory has had in shaping my experiences within this program. The collaboration and education that comes out of so many people with different life experiences has truly been invaluable, and this experience would not have been the same without each and every person involved.
