Through my research experience I have gained many skills in my academic journey so far, the first being career and self-development. I have learned how to promote myself and also how to develop my research skills in an academic setting. Before this research, I was unaware of how to properly conduct academic research, but throughout the course of this past academic year, I have gained the skills needed. Another skill I have gained is communication skills. I have always had good communication skills, but academic communication skills were something I was able to improve upon, increasing my skills in something I was already decent at. The last skill I gained was professionalism. Before this research I did not have the skills to conduct myself professionally. I now feel confident walking into a room professionally, especially in terms of my research.
