Throughout my experience working on this research project, I have gained a variety of career readiness skills. The first of these skills was critical thinking. This was particularly important through the necessity of analyzing a diverse collection of sources to combine the qualitative and quantitative methods of research, alongside the necessity to avoid personal biases within this data. Second, equity and inclusion were vital, as this project seeks to examine the structures of our infrastructure which reinforce systematic racism throughout the United States and historic disenfranchisement. Third, professionalism was another skill that was utilized. It was important to maintain a professional presentation with such a sensitive topic, and to continue to have an attention to detail to do justice. Lastly, technology was an important skill through the duration of my research. This was important in searching for sources and the creation of materials for this project.
