Q: How can I support my students?
A: Encourage collaboration, guide them through the design and build process, and ensure they are ready to present their projects.
Q: What materials will be provided?
A: Infento kits, Riders software, and all necessary tools will be available on-site.
Craft materials such as markers, cardboard and tape will also be provided but students should bring anything additional that they would want to use specifically to design their Indy500 race car.
Q: Can my students that are not part of Infento and Riders attend?
A: Yes! The event is open to all.
Q: Can I bring multiple student teams?
A: Yes, teachers and coaches are welcome to bring multiple teams, but please register each team separately.
Q: What inspiration and instructions will the students use to create their Indy 500 race car with Infento?
A: Students will use the Infento instruction manuals found here to build one of the electric vehicles using their Pro Kit and specifically customize their vehicle to look like a Indy 500 race car using this Infento race car design challenge.
Q: Do I need prior experience to participate?
A: No prior experience with either is necessary.
Q: How are the projects judged?
A: Projects will be evaluated based on creativity, functionality, design, and teamwork. A rubric for both competitions will be provided for both the Infento and Riders events.
Students should not be intimidated by the judging component as the entire event will be fun, and collaborative and enjoyable!
Students will need to presentation about their infento vehicle and their riders robot to present to the judges during the course of the event
Q: What should I bring?
A: For the Infento build-a-thon please bring your kit 70% completed and your laptop.
Participating teams will be required to bring their Infento vehicle and return it after the weekend has ended.
For the Riders hack-a-thon please bring your laptop.
Q: Can I participate in both the Build-A-Thon and Hack-A-Thon?
A: No, students must choose one event to participate in. This allows for deeper focus and collaboration within teams.
Q: Are there prizes for the winners?
A: Yes! Top-performing teams will receive special recognition, prizes, and certificates of achievement.
Q: Can I participate if I'm not a student or teacher?
A: Yes! Attend as a spectator, support the participants but prizes will only be awarded to the students participating schools invloved in the Infosys Foundation STEM grant.
Q: Is there a cost to attend?
A: No, thanks to the support of Infosys Foundation USA, admission is free.
Q: Will there be activities for younger children?
A: Yes! There will be family-friendly STEM activities and exhibits for all ages.
Q: Can my company get involved?
A: Absolutely! We welcome local companies and organizations to participate as mentors, judges, or sponsors. Please contact us for more information.
