Kindergarten listened to 5 Little Pumpkins and then built fences with Jenga blocks or bridges with Magna Tiles. The bridges and fences needed to support 5 pumpkins in numerical order.
1st Grade listened to Creepy Crayons read aloud. They used algorithmic drawing to create a creepy crayon. Then, wrote stories about what happened next. The A in STEAM is for Language Arts. Chatterpix App was introduced to create speaking creepy crayon artwork.
2nd Grade listened to How I Met My Monster. They wrote their names along the folded end of the cardboard and cut out their names. The opened cardboard created a Monster Name. 3rd - 5th Grades created the Pong Game using the Prompts Tutorial in SCRATCH. They were introduced to the IF / THEN conditional block to bounce the ball off the paddle. The sensing mouse x block was introduced and used to move the paddle. The students are full of rigor and enthusiasm as they learn to code!
6th - 8th started the Bring Kindness Into SCRATCH Project. This week students connected what they learned in Religion Class to create a unique sprite. Vector tools were used to remix or draw the sprite. Costumes were also created in order to create animation. The students will attach code to their sprite next week in order to create a narrative about kindness.
