About the Teacher:

My name is Amy Maly. I currently live in the LaGrange Highlands with my Dad. He is 79 and a widower and needed the company and extra care that is so crucial in this phase of life.  I have a son named Bryce who is also my world. He attends Illinois State University and is finishing up his degree in Marketing.  I also graduated from ISU many many years ago and I am excited to return to see the next generation Redbird receive his degree! I have two cats, Moe and Lil Betty who add to the crew. In my spare time, I love to see movies, hike, and nap! I love nothing more than to see year after year, "new to school students" blossom and go on to love learning. I feel so blessed I had the honor to see a former Pre-K student get married last October. It filled my soul just as each child does every year! Finally,

Potty procedures

Preschool Potty Policy 

Please carefully read our Preschool bathroom policy.

Children are expected to be fully potty trained when they are admitted to preschool. They must be completely independent in the bathroom to remain in our program.

A potty trained child can do the following: 

1. Be able to tell the teacher that they have to use the bathroom BEFORE they have to go and do NOT need to wear diapers or training products such as pullups. 

2. Be able to pull down their pants and underwear and get them back up without assistance. LOOSE CLOTHING IS BEST.

3. Be able to wipe themselves after using the potty. 

4. Be able to get off the toilet by themselves. 

5. Be able to wash and dry their hands. 

6. Be able to postpone going if they must wait for someone who’s in the bathroom or we are outside and away from the classroom. 

Per the MHR Family Handbook, even when children are toilet trained, accidents do occur, especially at the beginning of the school year as children adjust to a new schedule, a full day of school, using a community bathroom, and being in a group setting. For these occasions, families should provide a change of clothes to be kept at school.  

However, if a child has an accident and cannot clean and change themselves, then a family member or other adult on the emergency contact list, must be called to come to school and provide assistance to the child.  In instances where frequent accidents are symptoms of an illness, it will be necessary for the child to stay home until they are well and can use the bathroom without incident. Children who have 3 consecutive accidents within a short period of time will be asked to take a break from school to work on toilet t
