WEEKLY NEWSLETTER FOR SEPTEMBER 28TH-OCTOBER 3, 2026

RAIDER RUN-A-THON: I am not sure if you heard the news, but our class is in first place for the run-a-thon!!!  The kids are so excited!  If we win, we will get a pizza party and some major street cred!  Our walk time is 9:30-10:15 on Wednesday.  Students will receive their shirts on Tuesday.

In other news:

• School pictures are in the backpacks on Monday.

• Run-a-thon is Wednesday. 

• On Friday, October 2nd, we will have a fire drill at 9am.

• Check out our latest pictures on the "Home" page.  We met with our 6th grade buddies and spent time leaf hunting.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

•  Fundations: We are identifying, writing, and making the sounds for letters  d and s while reviewing letters: a, g, b, t, f, n, m, i, u, c, and o.  We will continue work on rhyming words. 

• Wonders: Answering the Essential Question, “How do baby animals move?”, students will explore literature, discuss and write through focus on phonics and phonological awareness. We have two new sight words: we and can.  We will also continue to learn about nouns and syllables.  

MATH:

•  Focusing on comparing numbers 0-10.  I am hoping to get to 10 plus 1 as well.   

SCIENCE:

• We are still talking about fall, how animals behave in fall, and how plants change during the fall.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

•  We are learning about laws and how to be a good citizen. We are going to discuss what laws and types of citizens that make a good community.

RELIGION: 

• We are continuing our chapter on God Made Our Senses.  We are also reading The Bible story about Jesus calming the storm.  We are going to do various activities and discussions on how Jesus calms our storms in life!
