SET DESIGN/STAGECRAFT CLUB
Students who participate in this activity will be directly responsible for the design, construction, decoration, assembly and maintenance of the sets, for both the fall drama and the spring musical. All students are welcome, regardless of previous experience and any level of active participation is welcomed. This club works under the philosophy of creating a professional set for each play, while enjoying the camaraderie developed from working together with others in the pursuit of a common goal. Simply put – we have fun!!!
LIGHTING/SOUND
Students who participate in this activity will be directly responsible for the lighting and sound for the many stage activities that occur during the school year such as the fall drama, spring musical, the Fashion Show, Senior Variety Show, and functions for outside groups. This club works towards creating a vibrant atmosphere for each event using a state-of-the-art light board and other technical stage equipment. All students are welcome regardless of previous experience.
RUNNING CREW
Also known as Stage Crew, the Running Crew is responsible for all set changes during the show. They must be responsible, focused, and willing to work with a team. The Running Crew is led by our Student Stage Manager. They attend our Saturday rehearsal, all Tech Rehearsals, and all show nights. The Running Crew for the Fall Drama is usually rather small, and priority is given to those who have worked on Set Design/Stagecraft Club.
STUDENT ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
The Student Assistant Director is a leadership role held by an upperclassman who is responsible, committed, and interested in learning about directing. He or she must be a good communicator and problem-solver. The AD helps to cast the show, attends all rehearsals, and mentors the cast, giving feedback where appropriate.
STUDENT STAGE MANAGER
The Student Stage Manager is a leadership role held by an upperclassman who has served on Running Crew for multiple MK shows, and acted as Assistant Stage Manager in a prior year. He or she is responsible for Props, building and leading a Running Crew, supervising the backstage area and assisting with set building and set strike where possible. The SM also helps to cast the show.
