About Me

This is will be my 16 th year working in MGSD and my 9th year teaching. Prior to teaching our Exceptional Children I worked as a EC Teacher Assistant. I have always had a passion for working with children and helping them to be successful. I have worked as a Youth and Family Therapist and as a Social Worker in foster care/adoption for Kids in Distress and at Big Brothers Big Sisters in South Florida.

EDUCATION-I have both my Bachelor's and Masters degree in Social Work from Florida International University. I am currently licensed in NC as both a Special Education teacher and School Social Worker.

Family Life-I have been married to my husband Jose for 25 years. We have 2 children, our son Alex is a graduate of Mooresville, currently serving in the US Navy, and scheduled to return home in October after 6 years of service. He was forward deployed to Spain for almost 3 years and is now serving in Jacksonville, FL. Our daughter is also a Mooresville Graduate and has a passion for animals and animal rescues. We have 3 dogs, Luna is a 12-year old boxer, Keiko a 7-year old Akita, and our daughter's dog Cube who is a bassett hound mix.

HOBBIES / INTERESTS

I enjoy, reading, gardening, hiking and photography but receive the most joy from spending time with my family.
