Mrs. Cosme's Class

Welcome to our classroom webpage!  I am your child's 5th grade ELA/Science teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This will be my 17th year teaching.  I LOVE 5th grade and this year will be my 13th teaching this grade level.  I also taught 2nd grade for 4 years. I am a native New Yorker and have relocated to NC just a little over 7 years ago. I have a dual certification in general education/special education. I also have my master's degree in English as a Second Language from St. John's University and I am AIG certified through MGSD.

I am married with 2 children and 2 beautiful granddaughters. Anaelise our youngest granddaughter will be attending 8th grade at Selma Burke and our oldest is a MGSD graduate and is attending  App State University.  In 2021 we became foster parents to Bella a beautiful  Pit Lab mix. We eventually adopted her and now Bella has her furever home! My hobbies are reading and spending time with my family.  I also love watching sports, especially football. Let's go JETS! 🏈

This year your children and I will be working as a team on learning to work cooperatively, develop good study habits and strive to achieve to your child's highest potential.
