We can not make schedule changes after registration closes. Important staffing decisions are made based on students’ course requests in March, and we cannot facilitate schedule changes unless there is a true error on a student’s schedule.
Review the Course Guide, which includes the following: descriptions of all courses, internship application, yearbook application, graduation requirements, NCAA-approved core courses, and all CCP information.
Students who wish to graduate early should speak with their school counselor to create a plan. Early graduates may still participate in prom and in the formal graduation ceremony in May. Graduating early is not encouraged for those seeking admission to four-year colleges after high school.
Students must have submitted a completed application to Ms. Royal to select CCP courses. During MHS registration, students should select a CCP placeholder (CCP Fall 1, 2, 3 or CCP Spring 1, 2, 3). The placeholder will be replaced with the name of the CCP course the student selects during Mitchell registration.
Teachers of core courses enter recommendations into the system so that students may see what course their teacher believes they are best suited to take. Recommendations are in PowerSchool and are indicated on the course selection screen.
To be promoted to the 10th grade, students must earn 6 credits including English I.
To be promoted to the 11th grade, students must earn 13 credits including English II.
To be promoted to the 12th grade, students must earn 20 credits including English III.
Mooresville High School offers open registration to all students, which means that any student may take an honors or Advanced Placement course as long as they have met the prerequisites outlined in the Course Guide. There is no rubric or placement process for honors and Advanced Placement courses -- students may request them and are welcome to challenge themselves in the classroom.
