Juniors and Seniors have the opportunity take college classes through North Carolina's CCP Program
Juniors and Seniors (students apply during Sophomore or Junior year)
Applicants with a 2.8+ unweighted GPA
Students with a completed application, signed MGSD Transportation Form, and signed MHS Checklist
Students who have at least one class scheduled at MHS
Costs
North Carolina waives tuition for CCP students.
MGSD pays student fees for CCP students.
Students pay for class materials, textbooks, access fees, and other class expenses.
If a student withdraws or is dropped from a class, for any reason, after the MCC drop/add period, the student is responsible for reimbursing MGSD any fees paid on their behalf, and they will receive a 55 on their MHS transcript for the course.
How to Apply
Beginning in August, 2025, students will apply through CFNC.org
Carefully select a Pathway (see below for details) and complete all application materials in blue or black ink.
"Pathway" refers to the group of classes that you wish to take. Students can only take classes within their selected Pathway.
Return application materials to A215 for processing. It typically takes four weeks for an application to process.
After applying, students will receive a letter from MCC in the mail. The letter includes login information to their Mitchell email account.
College Transfer Pathways
Think of a "Pathway" as a group of classes.
College Transfer Pathway courses offer credits that transfer to public colleges and universities in NC.
Course grades are weighted on the 5.0 GPA scale.
Students may only take classes within their Pathway.
Use the CCP Handbook to review courses prior to selecting a Pathway.
Examples of College Transfer Pathways include: Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Nursing, Associate in Engineering, Associate in Fine Arts Visual, Associate in Fine Arts Musical.
Career & Technical Education Pathways
Students earn college credits towards certifications in a variety of careers.
Many course credits are not weighted on the 5.0 GPA scale.
Students may only take classes within their Pathway(s).
Use the CCP Handbook to review courses prior to selecting a Pathway.
Examples of Pathways include Manicuring, Graphic Design, Nurse Aide, Welding, Electrical Systems, Agriculture Business, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Protection Technology, etc.
Enrollment
Only students who submitted an application and received an acceptance letter with log in information can register for CCP classes.
Students who submitted an application and did not receive an acceptance letter should reach out to Ms. Royal at mmroyal@mgsd.k12.nc.us
CCP Students can only take classes in their selected Pathway.
Follow these instructions to register for CCP classes through MCC's Self Service Portal.
After registering for CCP classes, check your MCC email account daily.
Can CCP classes satisfy high school graduation requirements?
There are groups of CCP classes that can satisfy high school graduation requirements for the following courses:
