SECONDMENT FOR DUTY - ENLISTMENT OF EDUCATORS (PRIMARY) FOR EDLP PROJECT
The Early Digital Learning Programme (EDLP) is a friendship project between the Government of India and the Government of Mauritius. EDLP is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology under the Nine-Year Continuous Basic Education reforms. EDLP aims at integration of digital technology into teaching and learning of pupils in the primary education. It promotes an early culture of IT use and practice in ways suitable to pupils’ developmental level to improve learning outcomes. EDLP is meant to develop a new culture if learning by ushering in new pedagogies relevant to the digital era and technological world at school level.
The Mahatma Gandhi Institute is inviting applications from suitably qualified Educators serving in the Government Primary Schools of Mauritius teaching either Hindi or Urdu or Tamil or Telugu or Marathi or Modern Chinese and who would be willing to provide their services for development of multimedia material for the EDLP project under either 1 or 2 below:
1. SECONDMENT FOR DUTY AT THE MGI
The selected candidates will be seconded for duty at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute to work on the Early Digital Learning Programme (EDLP) project and other projects related to multimedia material production for the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.
Qualifications:
(I) Teacher’s Diploma from the MIE in the relevant Indian Language or Modern Chinese from a recognized Institution.
(II) Candidates should be computer literate.
(III) Priority of consideration will be given to candidates having:
a. a degree in the relevant Indian Language or Modern Chinese from a recognized Institution.
b. a qualification and/or experience in Instructional Design, Graphic Design, Educational Technology or Multimedia Development
Note: Candidates may be required to work outside normal working hours including Saturdays.
Duties:
(I) To collaborate with Panel Members and Panel Coordinator in content and material development for the Early Digital Learning Programme
(II) To assist Graphic Designers in developing multimedia.
(III) To vet the materials until final implementation.
(IV) To assist in any work relevant to the project
(V) To provide support to any other project related to multimedia material production for the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology
Remuneration:
The selected candidates will be granted an all-inclusive monthly allowance of Rs 10,000 (ten thousand rupees) on top of their salary being drawn at the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.
2. PANEL MEMBER FOR THE EDLP PROJECT
The selected candidates will be required to work as member of the respective language panel at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute on a once per week release basis for the Early Digital Learning Programme (EDLP) project of the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.
Qualifications:
(I) Teacher’s Diploma from the MIE in the relevant Indian Language or Modern Chinese from a recognized Institution.
(II) Candidates should be computer literate.
(III) Priority of consideration will be given to candidates having:
a. a degree in the relevant Indian Language or Modern Chinese from a recognized Institution.
b. experience in curriculum design, textbook writing and/or production of digital teaching-learning material
Duties:
I. To collaborate with Panel Members and Panel Coordinator in content and material development for the Early Digital Learning Programme
II. To vet the materials until final implementation.
III. To assist in any work relevant to the project.
Remuneration:
The selected candidates will be granted an all-inclusive monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 (two thousand rupees) on top of their salary being drawn at the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.

Candidates wishing to be considered for both assignments must fill separate application forms.
Candidates should submit the online application form duly filled in, at latest by Monday 6th September 2021 .
Candidates should provide the link to a drive where copies of educational certificates and sample of previously produced educational material have been uploaded. Candidates may also attach proof by email (director@mgirti.ac.mu) only in case of difficulty in uploading through the online form.
Applicants should produce written evidence of equivalence of qualifications and of knowledge claimed. The onus for the submission of written evidence of knowledge claimed and equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Higher Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered in case of non-submission of written evidence of knowledge claimed and Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, by the closing date.
Incomplete and/or inaccurate application forms or applications not made on the prescribed forms will not be considered.
The Mahatma Gandhi Institute reserves the right to call only the best candidates for interview and not to proceed with the selection following this advertisement.
