Play Club began in October as a way to incorporate more free play into the school day. The idea for Play Club is based on research done by Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation. This book talks about the rise in mental health issues that has stemmed from a play-based childhood being replaced by a screen-based one. The end of the book gives recommendations for schools to assist in student mental health. The main recommendations are to be a phone free school and incorporate more free play. We've seen many positive effects from starting the day off with play. Join us on Monday or Wednesday mornings to see Play Club in action! Volunteer HERE
