Interim Director of the Foreign Language Teacher Education Program

Title: "An educator's self-caring approach to technology integration"

The switch to remote instruction due to the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the pressure on educators to master a myriad of tech tools in record time. We were flooded by webinars and workshops, almost to the point of losing ourselves and our pedagogy in a sea of must-have tools and must-follow practices. Thus, the goal of this talk is to offer a space for reflection and aspiration towards a healthier, less exhausting relationship with technology. Spoiler alert: your instructional effectiveness is not measured by the number of tools you use.

Dr. Florencia Henshaw is the Director of Advanced Spanish at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She is an award-winning educator who has published and presented nationally and internationally on technology integration and research-based pedagogical practices.
