In the second semester of senior year, students who are on track to graduate will have the opportunity to use 7th period as a time to fulfill community service hours.
Students enrolled in Community Service will be expected to complete 50 documented hours of unpaid volunteer work. Volunteer hours that are completed from the summer between Junior and Senior Year can be counted toward the 50-hour requirement.
Additionally, students who document 100 hours of service throughout their high school career (9-12) will receive a NYC Service Seal of Recognition on their diploma and a white cord signifying their community service to wear at graduation. The 50 hours of Service Learning may contribute toward the cumulative 100 hours, but please note that service hours for National Honors Society cannot be used toward senior year service hours and must be documented separately.
