SAT scores can be used in lieu of the Accuplacer. In fact, most students place higher with SAT scores.
If you haven't taken the SATs yet and you are interested in taking an Accuplacer required course, here's a few things to remember and one new change:
The Accuplacer is not required to enroll in many CCRI courses.
3 ways to find out if a course requires the Accuplacer: Met Picks list, CCRI Course Catalog, or ask Anne.
Most students choose classes where they do not need to take the Accuplacer as the test can be difficult and students need to study for it using the CCRI Study Packet
The Accuplacer test used to be free, but it now costs $30 for the first time and every time.
See info below -
STEP 1. Schedule your test.
DIRECTIONS TO SCHEDULE:
Accuplacer testing appointments are now done online. You will need a CCRI ID#, and your CCRI Username (CCRI Account Username Lookup) and Password.
If you do not have a CCRI ID# yet, you must submit the NEW online application through https://earlycollegeapply.ccri.edu/. A step-by-step guide can be found here.

CLICK HERE to schedule. You can also email accuplacer@ccri.edu, for information on testing appointments - You must include your full name, CCRI ID#, date of birth and phone number.
Other things to know:
The Accuplacer takes about 2-3 hours, like the SAT, and you should be sure to take it seriously and do your best.
Spend time with the study guide, below, and practice for the test. If you are bothering to take this test, you want to do your very best. Higher scores open up more classes and allow you to place out of some lower level classes and save you time and money.
If you want to retake the test, you may be charged. Also, you should take only the section of the test which you want to get a higher score in - like just retaking the math section.
You may take the test in person or remotely. We strongly recommend you choose the in-person option at a testing center.
If you want to take a course in the chemistry department, you also need to request a Chemistry Placement test using the same directions.
If you require accommodations for this test, talk to your special educator at the Met and ask them to please contact the Office of Disability Services (DAS) before scheduling https://www.ccri.edu/das/
Kindly send Anne (anne.lavaud@metmail.org) the test results when completed so I can help with registration.
NOTE: After scheduling, you will receive a confirmation email from CCRI and it will include directions to send your transcripts to the Office of Enrollment Service. Patty Bamford, our Post-Met advisor who supports students at CCRI let us know this is not a requirement to take the Accuplacer.
AT THE CCRI TESTING CENTERS - When you arrive, you must have a photo ID (your Met ID or driver's license) to show the proctor. Be sure to show up at least 10 minutes early - testing appointments start at a set time for all testers at that time. You will not be allowed in if you are late.
REMOTELY (not recommended) - You can take the test at home and you must have a photo ID (your Met ID or driver's license) to show the AI proctor. Your computer must have a webcam and microphone; cell phones will not work. There will be an online, AI proctor giving you directions and watching while you take the test.
