Middle School can be a challenging time for middle school students socially, emotionally, and academically. Students benefit when parents and teachers work together as a team, and if you have any concerns about the social, emotional, or academic well being of your student, please contact us or your child's counselor, Mark Mueller at mmueller@methacton.org. By working together we can support your child through celebrations and challenges.
In addition, we understand that parents want to find the best methods for supporting their individual child's needs. Please contact one of the team teachers to discuss ways we can work as a team to support your child! Below we have included some resources detailing ways parents can support students to be successful.
*One daily resource that will be helpful to students and parents is the team's assignment page. Please check the calendar on a daily basis to see the day's homework assignments. It is highly recommended that students find a "buddy", so that if homework is not posted one night, they can check in with their buddy. There may be times when the school's network server is not working properly, and our team site may not be available. Therefore, students are encouraged to copy homework in a safe place to develop a sense of ownership and responsibility regardless of whether or not it is posted on the site.
**Please be sure to login to PowerSchool to review your child's academic progress. Grades will be updated frequently and it is encouraged for students to start monitoring their own progress as well as check to see if they are missing any assignments. If you need assistance with this account, please contact the guidance department. _______________________________________________________________
Use the team and teacher websites!
Encourage your child to physically write down their homework - even if they do use the website!
Encourage your child to stay organized and on top of their homework/assignments.
Encourage your child to participate in class - this helps them stay focused and will help them remember new material.
Encourage them to ask for help if they need it!!
Encourage them to use 8th period wisely - this is the ideal time for your child to ask teachers questions or to get some of their homework done.
