Dear Parents,
Hello! I hope your child had a great first day of third grade! Thank you for sending in all of the useful supplies.
I wanted to inform you of a few details that should be helpful to you and your third grader. Each day we have a different special from 10:10 - 11:00 in the morning. The schedule is as follows:
Monday – Library - Please try to help your child remember to return his/her library book each week so he/she may borrow a new one. Books may be sent back as soon as you have finished with them to avoid any becoming misplaced.
Tuesday - Music – students will be learning the recorder this year. Keep a look out for the note from Ms. Coughlin to purchase one for your child.
Wednesday & Thursday – Physical Education - Your child will need to wear sneakers and either pants or shorts on these days. One of these days will change to Health Education during the school year.
Friday – Art-Please send an old adult-sized shirt labeled with your child’s name to school for use as a paint smock. These are stored at school for the entire year to wear for messy projects as needed. It should be in a large Ziploc bag
As I told the kids, you are the ones that have homework this week! I know how many papers, forms, etc. there are to go through these first few days. I have a lot more to share with you, but I will save that for further newsletters and Back to School Night, which is on Thursday, September 19th…please mark it on your calendars! Part of your child’s homework will be to read at least 15 minutes every night.. This is so important and hopefully, if you haven’t already, this will become a very enjoyable part of your nightly routine with your child!
Two helpful classroom reminders are that you may send in a water bottle with your child and they may need a sweatshirt or sweater to be left at school in case the classroom gets cold.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me here at school (610-489-5000 x-41310) or e-mail me (dwittenberg@methacton.org) . I am really looking forward to a great year with your child. I am also looking forward to meeting all of you and working with you to make this a very rewarding year for all of us! Thanks in advance for everything…and as always, write or call with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Deb Wittenberg
