Apps for Learning

Space County App is an app aimed towards educating our youth about the importance of collecting Census data. It is a mobile game which will simulate management of a town on an alien planet. It will reinforce how the collecting data makes a difference in managing a town and for the betterment of the people.

Multimedia Contest - Coming of Age in 2020: A Special Multimedia Contest for Teenagers in the U.S. Submission is due Nov. 12th.

You be the Chemist Challenge - A virtual competition to be held in February. I can enroll up to 12 students so please contact me if interested. This challenge highlights the fascinating world of chemistry and its real-world applications. Competition questions are based on an overall understanding of chemistry and science concepts presented in the study materials linked above.

National History Day - Each year, National History Day® frames students’ research within a historical theme. The theme is chosen for broad application to world, national, or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past. The 2020-2021 theme is Communication in History: The Key to Understanding.

GETT - Girls Exploring Tomorrow's Technology

GETT’S 20th Anniversary Video Series launches this Thursday, November 12th, with an all-star line-up of women mentors ready to assist the next generation of girls as they explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math.

GETT’S opening ceremony and launch event kicks off with appearances from U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan as well as NBC10’s Emmy award-winning meteorologist and children’s book author Brittney Shipp. Then, every week through the end of the school year, a new video or live stream will be released showcasing successful women from the region’s broad scope of STEM-related industries, as well as hand-on STEM activities designed to help girls discover new ways to connect their passions for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Participation is free, but all girls must pre-register at https://gettpa.org/

The National Association for Gifted Children - an organization of parents, educators, other professionals and community leaders to address the unique needs of children and youth.

The Council for Exceptional Children - the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.

The Association for the Gifted - organized in 1958 by The Council for Exceptional Children, helps professionals and parents work with gifted children.

The Association for the Education of Gifted Underachieving Students - provides a forum for ideas and interventions aimed at helping twice-exceptional students reach their full potential.

National Society for the Gifted and Talented - advances the development of gifted, talented, and high potential youth, in the United States and abroad, through opportunities, advocacy, and exemplary programs and practices.

Supporting Emotional Needs of Gifted - focuses primarily on the adults (parents, educators, etc) in the lives of gifted children. SENG provides information on identification, guidance, and effective ways to live and work with gifted individuals.
