Here is information about the workshop: programme, venue, resources & material, and sponsors. This workshop is organised under the CORDEX Flagship Pilot Study (FPS) southeast Africa.
The workshop will facilitate hands-on work to develop empirical-statistical downscaling for southeast Africa and training in R/R-studio. Participants are expected to bring their own rain gauge data (daily) and their own laptop with R and the esd-package already installed.
The workshop will include:
Lectures on downscaling techniques;
Data processing (ERA5 reanalysis and CMIP6 simulations);
Training in empirical-statistical downscaling (ESD) skills and learning how to utilize them to downscale future climate projections for their respective countries;
Opportunities to sharpen skills in R and EDS techniques;
Writing process that contributes to a scientific paper on downscaling and future regional climate projections.
The CORDEX FPS southeast Africa workshop was attended by colleagues from Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya and Burundi, including students and lecturers from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane.
The local organiser is the Mozambique National Institute of Meteorology - Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (INAM) https://www.inam.gov.mz/index.php/pt/
