DCP #1 will be held October 2-6 for STAAR subjects and Geometry/Algebra 2 classes. WMHS gives online DCP’s. Below are the instructions.
Per district, I will NOT be able to provide a paper copy of the test until the end of the testing window. Any student who forgets their chromebook will need to complete the DCP another day or borrowing a chromebook from another student once they are finished. NO chromebooks will be issued out to students who forget their chromebooks. Please call home if this is an issue that occurs frequently.
Below is a copy of the District Checkpoint Info. sheet. Please pay close attention to the time limits for each DCP. District has said DCPs should NOT take more than one class period. You may have a few students who receive extra time and may need a little time the next class period to finish up, but this should NOT be the case for the majority of your students.
Contacts that have given DCPs in your department and are familiar with the system are:
English 1 & 2 – Alyssa Boyett
Algebra 1 – Yeeun Jeon
US History – Samantha Parker
Biology – Stephanie Saberre
The instructions for students to access checkpoints can be found HERE. The folder has directions in English and Spanish. Students will click on the Apps button on the bottom left of their chromebook….They should NOT be logged in to their chromebook when trying to access the Apps button. We will be using a locked down browser for testing this year.
***Students will use your regular MISD log in credentials when prompted to login on the testing platform.***
You can test any time between October 2-October 6. DCP’s must be completed by 4pm October 6.
It is a district requirement that you OPEN and CLOSE the test each class period. For example: I have a 1A Biology class. I open the test in Aware at 8:45 am and close it at 10:15 am. There is only one link for all tests. If you don’t close the test then my biology student will be able to see/take their English and Math DCPs.
You need headphones for students that receive TEXT TO SPEECH. Please stop by my office ahead of time to pick up headphones.
DON’T CHANGE YOUR STUDENT’S PASSWORD. DON’T LET YOUR STUDENTS CHANGE THEIR PASSWORD! If it is changed it changes for all subjects and it gets too confusing for other teachers. DO NOT CHANGE THE PASSWORDS.
Students are uploaded each week in Eduphoria.
Accommodations have been mass uploaded into Eduphoria.
This was done at the district level. Check your accommodations and make sure all your students that have “text-to-speech” for STAAR are receiving this on their DCP. As you receive updated accommodations, if “text-to-speech” is added to your student’s accommodations, you will have to add this to Eduphoria for their DCP.
Note: Content Clarifiers and Spelling Assistance are not available for DCPs.
You may also want to mark Text to Speech for your LEP students who you think need it for the test. This will help you determine if they need this accommodation for Spring STAAR tests.
All information for teachers can be found HERE.
