Early College Peer Coaches

MCC is now hiring Peer Coaches! Apply by April 15.

These students will assist students participating in Mesa Community College (MCC) early access and early college programs, including College Starts Now, STEAM, Early College Academy (ECA), Achieving a College Education (ACE), and Hoop of Learning (HOL) programs. Peer Coaches are currently enrolled MCC students who have successfully navigated their educational journey and are passionate about helping others do the same.

Do you have a 2.75 GPA or higher and have completed 2 semesters or at least 12 credits?

Can you commit to 10-25 hours per week and be available some Fridays/Saturdays?

Do you have reliable transportation and want to make $15 per hour?

If so, you're eligible to apply!

The deadline to apply to be a Maricopa Student Senator has been extended to April 8 at 5 pm.

Represent the student community and become a primary advocate for students on campus, working to address and develop policy in students' best interests. Represent the students of MCC as a Maricopa Student Senator (MSS) and share their interests and concerns with the administration, colleges, and Governing Board.


This is a 1-year term that will begin July 1, 2022. Students from all backgrounds, majors, and experiences are encouraged to apply!

Melissa Davis, Constituent Relations Coordinator for the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office will be discussing important information about the August Primary and November General Election to ensure all students can “Be Ballot Ready.” Melissa will go over the basics of voting, both by mail and in person, and how your vote is tabulated by the Maricopa County Elections Department. She will also discuss resources available for voters and information about all election in 2022.

Earth Week at Red Mountain

April 12 & April 14 at the Red Mountain Campus

Please join us for two different CLEAN UP events being held to celebrate Earth Week and take good care of our community.

Tuesday, April 12 at 11:00 am: Falcon Hill Park (7222 E. Jensen St.) is the park adopted by MCC RM, which we clean twice per year. Please join us to help wipe down playground equipment and pick up trash.

Thursday, April 14 at 9:00 am: Campus clean up in the desert areas around our parking lots and the main entrances. We are expecting up to 300 people on campus for the Zootopia Movie Night, and would like to make sure our campus looks great!

Jake Skeets is the author of Eyes Bottle Dark with a Mouthful of Flowers, winner of the National Poetry Series, Kate Tufts Discovery Award, American Book Award, and Whiting Award. He is from the Navajo Nation and teaches at Diné College.

Fady Joudah has published five collections of poems: The Earth in the Attic; a book-long sequence of short poems whose meter is based on cellphone character count; Footnotes in the Order of Disappearance; and, most recently, Tethered to Stars. He has translated several collections of poetry from Arabic and is the co-editor and co-founder of the Etel Adnan Poetry Prize. He was a winner of the Yale Series of Younger Poets competition in 2007 and has received the Arab American Book Award, a PEN award, a Banipal/Times Literary Supplement prize from the UK, the Griffin Poetry Prize, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He is an Editor-at-Large for Milkweed Editions. He lives in Houston, with his wife and kids, where he practices internal medicine.

There will be activities for children led by EdRising and other student clubs from 6:00-7:30 PM. The movie will start at 7:30 PM. The Queso Good Food Truck will be serving food throughout the evening, and Student Life and Leadership will be serving up their famous popcorn.

Mesa Community College is one of several sites in Mesa and Chandler that assists with tax preparation for those with income under $58,000 in 2021. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is available through April 14 for free tax preparation.

Get Involved and Get Connected!

Clubs are an extremely valuable part of a student's experience at MCC. If you are interested in getting involved in a student club, please stay tuned for opportunities to meet our clubs, and consider starting (or reactivating) a new club! We are also seeking club advisors to help support a variety of MCC clubs. Any faculty or staff that are interested in this opportunity are encouraged to reach out to a member of the Student Life team.

The Club Hub will have an updated list of student clubs (as we learn which clubs will be active this year) as well as important paperwork, forms, and a list of club connections to various Fields of Interest.

Club Recruitment activities for the Spring 2022 semester will take place during the week of February 7. Stay tuned for more information!

We Care Wednesday

We Care Wednesday is a food distribution that takes place on the first Wednesday of every month at the Southern/Dobson campus and the third Wednesday of every month at the Red Mountain campus. The distribution happens from 10 am-12 pm. The food distributions are open to all students and community members in need of food assistance:

  • Drive-thru service. A volunteer will place food in your trunk or vehicle. (Walk-up service is available for those without vehicles.)

  • Masks are encouraged. If you are feeling any cold or flu symptoms, please stay home and seek medical treatment.

  • Southern Dobson: Located in the Southwest parking lot. Please enter from Dobson Road onto Solar Way at the Southern and Dobson campus.

  • Red Mountain: Located in the Red Mountain Way Circle. Please enter from McKellips Rd and proceed straight through the stop sign. Distribution takes place in the circle near the Desert Willow building.

Southern/Dobson Dates : Apr 6, May 4

Red Mountain Dates : Apr 20, May 18

Free Bus Passes for students

The City of Phoenix is providing each of the Maricopa Community Colleges with free 31-day Valley Metro bus passes for students. There are no eligibility requirements. Visit Student Life & Leadership at either campus to request your free bus pass. *While supplies last

Astronomy Nights at MCC

First Friday of each month | 6:00-10:00 pm | MCC Planetarium

MCC Astronomy Nights are held on the first Friday of the month during February, March, April, & May and September, October, November, & December.

MCC Astronomy Nights include planetarium shows, telescope viewing, information tables, hands-on activities, and more! Planetarium shows and indoor activities occur rain or shine, but telescope viewing of the night sky is only offered when the sky is clear.

Planetarium shows run from 6:00-10:00 PM, with shows starting every hour.

Each Wednesday during the Spring 2022 semester (from January 26th - May 4th) the Career Services Department will be hosting Working Wednesdays on the Clock Tower sidewalk from 10am - 12pm. Each week, we will welcome 5 employers on campus to table and speak with interested students about the job opportunities available within their organization.

Professional Development Workshops
