FUEL FOR FINALS with STUDENT LIFE

RED MOUNTAIN CAMPUS

December 6-9 | RM Student Lounge (M210)

The Red Mountain campus will be giving you "Fuel For Finals" during the week of December 6-9 in the Student Lounge (Mesquite 210). We'll have a variety of breakfast and snack items as well as coffee, tea, and hot cocoa each day.

In addition, ASMCC Student Government at Red Mountain will be giving out snacks, hot chocolate, and Finals Survival Kits to students on Wednesday, December 8 from 9 am-12 pm (outside the Saguaro building). The first 30 students to will also get a $5 gift card to the Mesquite Grill.


SOUTHERN & DOBSON CAMPUS

December 13-16 | 8:30 am-11:30 am | Student Life Patio

The Southern/Dobson campus will be sharing "Fuel For Finals" during Finals Week, December 13-16 on the Student Life Patio. Stop by for some delicious treats and fun activities to help you power through your finals week!

Holiday Gift Wrapping at RM

In collaboration with the Thunderbird Newscycling Project, the MCC Red Mountain Library is providing a gift wrapping station with newspaper for an environmentally friendly gift wrap.

Falcon Hill Park Clean Up

Monday, December 6 | 1:00 pm | 7222 E. Jensen Street (near the MCC RM campus)


Did you know that the Red Mountain campus has an adopted park in the area? Twice each year, Dr. Cheroske leads a group of students in a service project to clean up Falcon Hill Park, which is located in the neighborhood just south of the RM campus.


If students are looking for a quick service project, we encourage them to join us on Monday (12/6) at 1 pm to clean up the park. We'll be wiping down playground equipment and tables and picking up trash around the park. It usually only takes an hour or so, as the park is relatively well maintained. Thanks for joining us!

MCC Performing Arts Center

Enjoy an evening of percussion music! The MCC percussion ensemble is a diverse group of young percussionists performing contemporary literature from some of today's major composers. Everything from multi-percussion duets to full ensemble pieces will be performed, which will include a variety of instruments such as marimbas, vibraphones, timpani, drum sets and more.

Please join us in celebrating the end of the semester with the MCC Dance Program! This fun-filled evening will feature student dancers from a wide variety of MCC dance classes, as well as works-in-progress from the MCC Dance Company!

Broadway Hit Revue featuring the students from the Broadway Solos Class. Enjoy a performance of musical theatre hits that will leave you humming a joyful tune.

Proceeds go to benefit the Music Scholarship fund.

Magic, Witchcraft, and Healing

An Anthropological View from a Student's Fieldwork Perspective

Students in Casiana Pascariu ASB 214 Magic, Witchcraft and Healing classes will be presenting their final projects in a two-day event. We invite all students, faculty, and staff to attend to learn more about a variety of topics.

Join us in the Red Mountain Fitness Center for a week of FREE group fitness classes during finals week. These classes are open to members and non-members of the fitness center.

Drop-In Fitness Classes at So/Do

The following classes are available for drop-in at the Southern/Dobson campus:

Stretch & Relax with Linna:

December 9 and December 16 | 4:30-5:15 pm in the MCC Fitness Center | Dress comfortably, no registration required. We have mats for you to use. This is open to the entire MCC community.

Introduction to Weight Training:

December 7 (free weights) and December 14 (free weights and machines)

4:30-5:15 pm in the MCC Fitness Center (next to the Enrollment Center)

The session will include an introduction and demonstration of exercise, a 30-35 minute total body workout, and a proper cool down. This is an introduction to weight training. If you are interested in proper set up on equipment and an easy to follow workout plan, you will want to join us for this class. Feel better and confident in the gym. There is no need to register, this is a drop-in session and we look forward to seeing you!!

All participants will need to show ID. Non-members will need to sign a waiver before activity. Dress comfortably.

We Care Wednesday

Wednesday, Dec 15 | 10:00 am-12:00 pm | Red Mountain Campus

The last We Care Wednesday drive through produce distribution of the fall semester is taking place at the RED MOUNTAIN campus on Wednesday, Dec 15. It will take place from 10 am-12 pm. This is free and open to the public!

Enter campus on Red Mountain Way off of McKellips Road. A volunteer will place the food in your trunk/car. Please wear a mask for the safety of our volunteers. For more info, visit this link. The first We Care Wednesday of 2022 is happening at the Southern/Dobson campus on 1/5/22.

Congrats MCC Graduates!

Graduation is a time to pay tribute to each member of the graduating class. As students of Mesa Community College you have left, and will continue to leave, an indelible legacy of achievement and a tradition of excellence for generations to come.

We have invited MCC’s Summer and Fall 2021 graduates, along with past graduates who were unable to participate in an in-person ceremony due to COVID-19, to join us for a special Fall Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 6 pm, at the Southern and Dobson Campus. *RSVP is required to participate, and is due on 12/3.

Holiday Food Distributions

United Food Bank will hold one more holiday food distributions, Dec. 22, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until food lasts at the Mesa Convention Center.

Turkey, fresh produce, and other foods will be available to families in need of food. Please empty your trunk before arriving. Walk-up service will also be available to anyone without a vehicle.

  • Students = $50 (semester) or $25 for half semester, starting in March

Mesa Market

On behalf of Student Life & Leadership, we'd like to thank those of you who have supported the Mesa Market throughout the fall semester. We are currently accepting donations of non-perishable food items and hygiene products to help us restock the Mesa Market for the spring semester. We will provide proof of donation if any faculty would like to offer this as an extra credit opportunity. Donations can be dropped off in the Office of Student Life and Leadership at either campus. Clubs are an extremely valuable part of a student's experience at MCC. If you are interested in getting involved in a student club, please stay tuned for opportunities to meet our clubs, and consider starting (or reactivating) a new club! We are also seeking club advisors to help support a variety of MCC clubs. Any faculty or staff that are interested in this opportunity are encouraged to reach out to a member of the Student Life team.

We Care Wednesday

We Care Wednesday is a food distribution that takes place on the first Wednesday of every month at the Southern/Dobson campus and the third Wednesday of every month at the Red Mountain campus. The distribution happens from 10 am-12 pm. The food distributions are open to all students and community members in need of food assistance:

  • Drive-thru service. A volunteer will place food in your trunk or vehicle. (Walk-up service is available for those without vehicles.)

  • Masks are encouraged. If you are feeling any cold or flu symptoms, please stay home and seek medical treatment.

  • Southern Dobson: Located in the Southwest parking lot. Please enter from Dobson Road onto Solar Way at the Southern and Dobson campus.

  • Red Mountain: Located in the Red Mountain Way Circle. Please enter from McKellips Rd and proceed straight through the stop sign. Distribution takes place in the circle near the Desert Willow building.
