Food Resources for Students

The holidays are around the corner, and some of our students may be in need of food assistance. Below is a list of helpful campus and community resources you can share with students struggling to put food on the table. If you can donate to the Mesa Market, it would be greatly appreciated during this time.


  • Thanksgiving Food Distribution--courtesy of United Food Bank, Nov 21, from 9 am-1 pm at the Mesa Convention Center. Turkey, fresh produce, and other food will be available. ** We recommend getting there early. While supplies last!

  • The Mesa Market provides free food and hygiene products for Mesa Community College students in need. Students can receive up to 10 free food items and 5 free hygiene items per week.

  • The 7th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl will provide FREE Thanksgiving lunches courtesy of Grand Canyon University on Thurs. Nov. 24. Football starts at 10 am, and lunch will be served at noon in the Student Lounge on the Southern & Dobson campus. Space is limited. Please RSVP HERE.

  • We Care Wednesday--fresh food distribution @ MCC Southern & Dobson on Dec 7, 10 am-12 pm. While supplies last!

  • Visit www.azfoodbanks.org for a list of food distributions. Type in your zip code and a list of options near you will appear. Please call ahead to verify the hours of operation and requirements.


If you'd like to help students in need this holiday season, donate to the Mesa Market by bringing non-perishable food items or hygiene products to Student Life or purchase items off the Amazon Wish List. All items will be sent directly to campus.

Astronomy Night: Tour the Universe with Pink Floyd!

Friday, December 6 | 6:00 pm-10:00 pm

Join us for a screening of a planetarium show, Q&A session with an astronomer, as well as telescopic observations of celestial sights (weather permitting). There will be 4 shows throughout the evening, beginning at 6PM. They begin every hour afterwards, with the final showing at beginning at 9PM. Tickets are available for free on a first-come/first-serve basis at the planetarium entrance day of. To guarantee seats in a particular time slot, reserved tickets are available for $3 per seat. The Red Mountain campus will be giving you "Fuel For Finals" during the week of December 5-8. Join College Administration for breakfast in the Saguaro Lobby on December 7 from 10am-12 pm, grab a mindfulness kit from ASMCC Red Mountain, and enjoy delicious treats every day.

The Southern/Dobson campus will be sharing "Fuel For Finals" during Finals Week, December 12-15 on the Student Life Patio. College Administration will be serving breakfast to students at Southern/Dobson on Monday, December 12 from 8:00-10:00 am.

We Care Wednesday

The next We Care Wednesday drive through fresh food distribution is taking place at the SOUTHERN & DOBSON campus on Wednesday, December 7. It will take place from 10 am-12 pm. This is free and open to the public! *Food available while supplies last.

Valley Metro to offer FREE Bus Route

Valley Metro has begun service of a new bus route in West Mesa. The best part? It's FREE!

The route, called "Mesa Fiesta Buzz," is a free neighborhood circulator provided by the City of Mesa. It connects the Fiesta District, Asian District, and Mesa Riverview. The circulator travels the route in a northbound-southbound direction every 30 minutes. Travel time is approximately 25 minutes from end to end, with park-and-ride available at the Sycamore/Main St. Transit Center.

Popular destination points include: Sloan Park, Mekong Plaza, Banner Health Desert Medical Center, and of course MCC Southern & Dobson! For more information on the route, click on this PDF.

We Care Wednesday

We Care Wednesday is a food distribution that takes place on the first Wednesday of every month at the Southern/Dobson campus and the third Wednesday of every month at the Red Mountain campus. The distribution happens from 10 am-12 pm* or until supplies run out. The food distributions are open to all students and community members in need of food assistance:

  • Drive-thru service. A volunteer will place food in your trunk or vehicle. (Walk-up service is available for those without vehicles.)

  • Southern Dobson: Located in the Southwest parking lot. Please enter from Dobson Road onto Solar Way at the Southern and Dobson campus.

  • Red Mountain: Located in the Red Mountain Way Circle. Please enter from McKellips Rd and proceed straight through the stop sign. Distribution takes place in the circle near the Desert Willow building.

Get Involved and Get Connected!

Clubs are an extremely valuable part of a student's experience at MCC. If you are interested in getting involved in a student club, please stay tuned for opportunities to meet our clubs, and consider starting (or reactivating) a new club! We are also seeking club advisors to help support a variety of MCC clubs. Any faculty or staff that are interested in this opportunity are encouraged to reach out to a member of the Student Life team.

The Club Hub will have an updated list of student clubs (as we learn which clubs will be active this year) as well as important paperwork, forms, and a list of club connections to various Fields of Interest.

Each Wednesday during the Fall 2022 semester the Career Services Department will be hosting Working Wednesdays on the Clock Tower sidewalk from 9am - 12pm. Each week, we will welcome employers on campus to table and speak with interested students about the job opportunities available within their organization. Civic Action Hour | Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00 pm | Link to virtual event

We welcome you to join us for Civic Action Hour on Wednesdays from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. We have organized new and exciting speakers and topics for the semester to support Civic Engagement, Civic Action, Civic Service and Civic Leadership. The speakers bring great ideas and opportunities to their presentations for our students. These events are also Honors Co-curricular approved.

Civic Engagement Events

Civic Action encompasses actions to promote the quality of life in the community, through both political and non-political processes. Many of our events, projects and activities surround the Civic Holidays that include Constitution Day, National Voter Registration Day, Civic Engagement Week, AZ Civics Week, National Voter Education Week, and National Vote Early Day and collaborating with our community and national partners Check back periodically to see events that have been added.

EngageMe Workshops | Fridays from 12:00-2:00 pm

EngageMe Workshops are open to students, staff, faculty, and community partners as we offer additional educational training in civic engagement to promote the quality of life in the community through both political and non-political processes. Link to participate.

MCC Fitness Center Memberships

Start the new semester STRONG! Did you know you can sign up for a membership to the MCC Fitness Centers? They provide membership access to students, employees, and the community, and a membership gives you access to both the Southern and Dobson and the Red Mountain campus fitness centers. Membership includes cardio and strength training equipment, fitness tools/accessories, access to drop in group fitness classes, personal training consultation and 1 complementary session, knowledgeable staff, day use lockers, clean facilities, and no crowds!

  • Students = $50 per semester or $25 for half semester

  • Employees = $25 per semester
