Flight of the Butterflies Screening

Produced in 2012, Flight of the Butterflies is a Canadian documentary film that takes factual information about the monarch butterfly and re-enacts it in order to answer questions about the insect, including, where it overwinters, and how many generations it takes for the butterfly to reach its destination. The 45 minute film will be accompanied by an introduction regarding the current state of the monarchs in the west and will conclude with student remarks regarding projects currently being conducted at MCC that support and promote a monarch population in central Arizona.

Blood Drive at Red Mountain

Almost everyone is impacted by trauma at some point in their lifetime. According to the CDC, at least 1 in 7 children has experienced abuse or neglect in the past year. A trauma-informed approach nurtures trust, assures a safe environment, and diminishes the possibility of re-traumatizing an individual. The MCC Library is hosting a guest lecturer, Angie Geren, Project Director of AZ Adverse Childhood Experiences Consortium. Angie will be discussing trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and how you can begin applying a trauma-informed approach in your daily interactions. *This webinar has been pre-approved as an honors co-curricular academic lecture.

Center for Community & Civic Engagement
The Center for Community and Civic Engagement is one of the many departments that are most impactful to our students and community campus! There are many things to take advantage of through this department. Some of the main highlights off the website were hands-on opportunities such as service learning such as; Community Engagement Advisory Board, and Service Learning Assistant Program. Other highlights include the America Reads Program, Community Service, Community Restitution, and Volunteerism. Hours of operation during the Fall and Spring are Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm, and the summer hours are Monday through Thursday from 8am-5pm.

Every week students can order a food bag filled with basic food pantry items. Hygiene products and school supplies will also be available. Curbside services are available at both the Red Mountain and Southern and Dobson campuses. Curbside services need to be scheduled by noon the day before your pick-up.

We Care Wednesday
We Care Wednesday is a food distribution that takes place on the first Wednesday of every month at the Southern/Dobson campus and the third Wednesday of every month at the Red Mountain campus. The distribution happens from 10 am-12 pm. The food distributions are open to all students and community members in need of food assistance:
Drive-thru service. A volunteer will place food in your trunk or vehicle. (Walk-up service is available for those without vehicles.)
Masks are required. If you are feeling any cold or flu symptoms, please stay home and seek medical treatment.
Southern Dobson: Located in the Southwest parking lot. Please enter from Dobson Road onto Solar Way at the Southern and Dobson campus.
Red Mountain: Located in the Red Mountain Way Circle. Please enter from McKellips Rd and proceed straight through the stop sign. Distribution takes place in the former Bus Stop circle near the library.

Spring 2021 | Career Services Virtual Workshops
The Career Services staff is going to be hosting virtual workshops for the Spring 2021 semester. They host workshops every Tuesday through April 27. The workshops will take place three times each Tuesday at 10am , 2pm, and 6pm to reach as many students as possible. The topics of our workshops for the semester will be Resume/Cover Letter Writing and Interviewing. The links for each of the workshops can be found on the Events Calendar on the Career Services webpage. Each workshop is an hour long.
