Not all gifted children have social and emotional needs. However, giftedness may manifest itself with intensities and sensitivities.

Some common social and emotional needs or concerns of advanced learners are:
Perfectionism
Introversion
Asynchronous (Uneven) Development
Overexcitabilities
Loneliness/Social Isolation
Motivation (many are intrinsically rather than extrinsically motivated)
Depression
Underachievement (sometimes due to desire for peer acceptance)
Fixed vs. Growth Mindset (Entity Theory vs. Incremental Theory)
Self Advocacy
