Our classroom is like a family. Students will draft and finalized rules together.
To maintain an appropriate classroom climate, when certain behavioral situations arise, teachers will privately speak to students about their behaviors. Students may be asked to reflect on their behavior and write a small response on how to make better choices. If behavioral situations need further attention, parents will be notified.
H.I.B refers to harassment, intimidation, and bullying. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school-aged children that involves a real, perceived, and/or repetitious power imbalance. Because of the seriousness associated with H.I.B. the Board of Education authorizes a prompt investigation of reports and violations and complaints of harassment, intimidation, and bullying in accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 18A:37-15(b)6. For all allegations of harassment, intimidation, and bullying, there will be an extensive investigation procedure including the principal, anti-bullying specialist, Superintendent, and/or Board of Education.
