Women at Merrimack: the 1950s
This exhibit was created by students in WGS3300 US Women's History, taught by Dr. Debra Michals during the fall 2021 semester. To honor the College's history and women's role in it, students used available primary sources from the archives to explore the experiences of women during the school's first decade. Founded as a school for returning GIs from World War II, Merrimack was pathbreaking among Catholic institutions, admitting women within a few years of its founding. This exhibit would not have been possible without the assistance of the outstanding librarians at McQuade Library: Lyena Chavez and Gabrielle Womack. Special thanks also to Janet Syed and Sean Wright for assistance with Google Sites.
Note: This exhibit is a student work and reflects varying levels of public history and curatorial experience.
