These Stations of the Cross centered on social justice were created by students in the Austin Scholars Living Learning Community at Merrimack College. Students from each class came together to connect present-day issues to the suffering of Jesus Christ from his crucifixion to his resurrection. Students both wrote the reflections and created the artwork to highlight the connection of social justice issues to the stations. Through this project, the Austin Scholars hope to shine light on the issues within our world that cry out for change.
About: Austin Scholars is a Living Learning Community on campus that allows students to celebrate our Augustinian roots by serving those in need in the surrounding communities of Lawrence and Lowell. The Austin Scholars program is open to all students who have shown exemplary leadership and service to their community. Through service to others, study and learning, and coming together as a community, Austin Scholars have the opportunity to explore the personal values and ideals that comprise their personal spirituality. Required events throughout the year are designed to deepen both self-awareness and awareness of the purpose, meaning, and value of one’s life.
