What are SAE's, LDE's & CDE's?
Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) are hands-on learning projects that FFA members participate in to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings. These projects are designed to help students gain practical skills in agriculture, develop leadership abilities, and explore career opportunities in the industry. SAEs can vary widely, from managing a small farm, raising livestock, working in agricultural research, or even running a small business. They are an essential component of the FFA experience, encouraging students to develop work ethic, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of agriculture.
Leadership Development Events (LDEs) are competitions that focus on building leadership, public speaking, and teamwork skills among FFA members. These events allow students to demonstrate their abilities in areas such as parliamentary procedure, speaking contests, and team-based problem solving. LDEs are designed to enhance personal growth, strengthen communication skills, and prepare members for leadership roles within their communities and future careers. Through these events, FFA members learn the importance of teamwork, critical thinking, and effective leadership.
Career Development Events (CDEs) in FFA are competitive events that help students develop the skills they need for success in agricultural careers. These events cover a wide range of topics like animal science, plant science, agribusiness, mechanics, and public speaking. By participating in CDEs, students apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios, build teamwork and communication skills, and explore future career paths in agriculture and beyond.
