Hi!! I'm Mrs. Jill Chlebus, one of the speech therapists for Meridian School District. I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist since 2003. I have worked at Meridian Schools since that time and have also worked at Easter Seals part time. I also do private speech/language therapy at times, typically during the summer. I have two children, Julia (15) and Jace (11) and we live in Taylorville. I love to read and binge Netflix. Lindsay Boggs is the other SLP in our district. As soon as your child is 3, he/she can be referred for a speech/language evaIuation if needed. You can contact me at 692-2535 ext 214 or email chlebusj@meridianhawks.net. If your child is under 3, you can contact Early Intervention at the Child and Family Connections #19 at 423-6199
What is a speech-language pathologist?
A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a specialist in the assessment, treatment and prevention of communication disorders. In the US, an SLP must have a Masters degree at minimum. Most SLPs also hold a state license and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through the American Speech-language and Hearing Association (ASHA). SLPs are employed by hospitals, schools, rehab centers, government agencies and private practice. Most of the children on the caseload of a "typical' school SLP are children with language delays, articulation/phonology delays, or fluency problems (stuttering), but school SLPs also work with children who exhibit other disorders/delays such as autism or voice disorders.
