Harvard's beloved blonde takes the stage by glittery pink storm in this fun and upbeat adaptation of the hit film and award-winning Broadway musical.
Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, Legally BlondeThe Musical JR. is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show's instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit and sass – leaving cast members and audiences alike seeing pink!
Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's high school boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.
Legally Blonde JR. features large, energetic dance numbers with an expandable cast of sorority sisters, law school students, hairdressers and more.
'Ohmigod you guys'!
It is with great pleausre that I welcome you to Merici College's stunning production of Legally Blonde The Musical JR. a show that’s equal parts sparkle, sass, and serious heart. From the moment the cast bursts onto our stage (in pink, of course), you'll know you are in for a dazzling ride of 'bend-and-snaps'.
As the Acting Creative and Performing Arts Coordinator, and Director of this pink extravaganza, I’ve had the absolute pleasure (and occasional pink-induced headache) of working with an extraordinary cast and crew who have poured every ounce of talent, time, and tenacity into this spectacle. Whether it was nailing choreography, memorising lines and stage directions, or discovering the emotion or zest behind a vocal number, these students have embodied the spirit of Elle Woods: fierce, fabulous, and full of heart.
Legally Blonde Jr. isn’t just a pink parade of 'Delta Nu' glamour, it’s a celebration of persistence, empowerment, and proving that you can be both kind and clever, stylish and strong, without a 'chip of your shoulder'. It reminds us that 'being true to yourself never goes out of style', a message we hope will echo well beyond our auditorium.
To the parents, families, staff, and wider Merici community, thank you for being our cheerleaders, our Uber drivers, our costume-finders, snack-suppliers, and constant sources of encouragement. We hope you are 'totally psyched' to finally see the show.
To the cast and crew, 'omigod you guys' you are extraordinary. I am endlessly proud of your energy, polish, and pink-stained passion. You’ve reminded me daily why the arts matter so much in the life of a school and beyond.
So it's 'time to get serious', sit back, relax, and prepare to be 'whipped into shape' by the triumph of the underdog in pink... because in the world of Elle Woods… anything is possible.
Thank you and 'what you want' now is to enjoy the show!
With much joy,
Mr Dayne Spencer
Director and Acting Creative & Performing Arts Coordinator
