The mission of Bella Care Hospice is to affirm and celebrate the significance of human life and recognize dying as a natural process. We carry out this mission by providing superior health, social, emotional, and spiritual services to enhance the quality of life with peace and dignity for patients and support for families.
Bella Care Hospice Ashtabula is looking for special volunteers willing to visit our patients at skilled nursing facilities to do companionship work. We're currently looking for students; ages 16 and above that are in need of volunteer credits for their graduation to spend as little as 30 minutes a week with an older patient that would like to talk with someone, maybe read a newspaper to, to play a card game with, or to simply to have a gentle hand to hold. There are many different ways to use your talents of friendship, compassion & commitment with flexible scheduling available.
Hospice volunteers are helping at a vulnerable point in a person's life, by listening to and being present with patients and loved ones. Hospice volunteers are an integral part of the team, and should take advantage of the resources available to them through the hospice program.

***Community Volunteer Fair***
The Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities (LCBDD), United Way of Lake County, Mentor Public Library, Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library and the Lake County Volunteer Network are hosting the annual Community Volunteer Fair Open House on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 3:30-6:30pm in the lower level of the Mentor Public Library. This event is free and open to the community. There will be over 20 non-profit and government agencies looking to connect with community members who want to learn about their organization and available volunteer opportunities. A lot of these organizations will also have youth volunteer opportunities.
