How to contact college coaches:

  1. Via email, sent from your own personal email account (not a parents’). It’s highly recommended that you set up a personal email account that is separate from your school-provided email.

    1. Address the coach by their last name (i.e. Coach ______).

    2. Let the coach know why you are specifically interested in his program.

    3. Let the coach know why you would be a good fit for his program.

    4. Keep your email short and to the point.

    5. In the subject line, put your full name, high school, and grad year of the first email you send to a coach. Also, be sure to sign the email with the same information.

    6. Never send a mass email to multiple coaches, and always make each email personalized for the program you’re contacting.

  2. In-person:

    1. Introduce yourself and any family members you may be with at the time. Use a firm handshake and look him in the eyes. Be sure to let the coach know that you’re interested in his program, and be yourself!
