LAK 2025:
Equity-centered R&D:
Why we need it and how to do it
Tuesday March 4, 2025, 1:30-5:30pm (conference local time)
Tuesday March 4, 2025, 1:30-5:30pm (conference local time)
This workshop considers how learning analytics (LA), as a field, and individual researchers active in the LA community are well-positioned to integrate research questions, methods, and processes that center equity in order to make significant contributions to the larger educational research and development (R&D) space. Given that equitable R&D has not, historically, been a focus in the learning analytics community, our workshop focuses on how LA researchers, regardless of their primary research questions, can take steps to ensure that their work integrates equitable R&D methods and processes.
The key outcomes of the workshop are:
To identify bright spots and barriers to equity-centered R&D within the LAK community
Identify ways to bring an equity-centered lens to any research topic or domain
Identify resources and opportunities to support equity-centered R&D (how to find partners, R&D networks, funding opportunities, tools, and resources for research
Develop plans to formalize findings from the workshop and ways to share resources that result from the workshop
