We've designed the K-8 Computer Science program to be a curated journey from basic tech literacy to becoming content creators. The scaffolded curriculum introduces hardware and software essentials, then elevates students into online collaboration through advanced learning management systems.
Lesson differentiation is at the core of our Comp Sci instruction. Implementing a blended approach—flipped classrooms, interactive modules, self-paced learning, and project based, team driven concepts—the instruction caters to all proficiency levels. This innovative structure allows students to engage at their own pace, while enabling focused attention on challenge areas.

We're preparing students to contribute effectively to the global technology landscape, as our learning environment leverages technology to amplify understanding and dexterity in educational deliverables.
Our K-8 Computer Science curriculum offers a scaffolded learning experience focused on problem-solving and logical reasoning. In Kindergarten and 1st grade, students are introduced to programming through Scratch Jr., a block-based tool for young learners. For 2nd and 3rd graders, we transition to Google's CS First, which emphasizes storytelling and game design. In 4th grade, the program utilizes Code.org's versatile coding modules, while 5th graders delve into Python programming via CodeHS. For grades 6-8, students have the option to specialize in Mobile Game Design or 3D Modeling and Design, offering practical applications of their coding skills.

In our K-5 curriculum, typing is a cornerstone skill taught through Typing Club, a user-friendly platform designed to build strong foundational typing abilities. Starting from Kindergarten, students are introduced to basic keyboard familiarity, progressing through interactive lessons that emphasize proper hand positioning, speed, and accuracy. By the end of 5th grade, students are equipped with proficient typing skills, preparing them for the increasing demands of digital literacy in higher grades.
Students explore the various aspects of music production and create their own music using Digital Audio Workstations with professional music sequencing and engineering software. During the creation process, students will explore a fully equipped recording studio, where they will be able to experience a real-world setting and see the processes used to record, mix and produce music. Additionally, special guests who have either produced notable work, are currently producing work, creating music or work with any aspect of sound production will come and present to the students.

Teams of students learn to produce a daily broadcast of the chapel services via simulcasted internet channels and special events using a multi-camera setup, software and hardware-based production switchers, and full audio. The skills are then reinforced through partnerships that allow students to work with television channels to create media content, such as the Big 12 Football Media Day.
Students will design a working 3D mechanical model to specifications. They will learn to use code for the design phase and learn to prepare and use our 3D printers themselves.
In Middle School will engage in more advanced film-making, creating a short film from inception to completion. Students will explore strategies for writing the script, storyboarding, casting, filming, creating a music score, and editing the production. The final product will be copyrighted and posted to the web for public consumption.
Students will learn to design mobile gaming applications using Game Salad app development platform. They will create design companies, and follow the product design lifecycle to perfect a total game experience.
