A Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), Anna is originally from the east coast but can't seem to get enough of the redwoods and Pacific Ocean.
Liz Newkirk, Guidance Counselor
Liz grew up in the Santa Cruz area and loves being on the coast, spending time outdoors and living in our connected and supportive community. Liz received her AA from SBCC, BA in English from SDSU, her Single Subject Teaching Credential from Point Loma Nazarene, and her MA in Counseling Psychology as well as her PPS credential from USF. She loves working with students and families and can be reached at lnewkirk@musdstudents.org
Anna Yanez, School Counselor
Anna was born and raised in Fort Bragg and is happy to be back in this community with her family.
She spent the past 15 years in the Bay Area working in Education, completing her MA in Counseling Education and PPS Credential from SJSU. The last 10 years she has also worked at Google to support families in the tech field to bridge the connection from home to school and create project based curriculum.
While Anna doesn't consider herself a runner every year she looks forward to participating in as many 5k and 10k races as possible. One of her favorites is the She.Is.Beautiful Race in Santa Cruz. Her most recent hobby is making sourdough bread and finding new recipes that her family will enjoy.
Anna is very excited to be supporting students and families in the MUSD and looks forward to the time we can meet in person.
