As this marking period comes to an end, MTSD is preparing for another summer of growth and construction following the successful bond referendum.
We are proud to announce that M&M Construction Co. was awarded the bid to complete this summer’s projects and is expected to finish this current phase of construction promptly and efficiently before the start of the 2024-25 school year. M&M will begin the process at the schools in late May by moving equipment and materials on site and the work will commence in mid-June - between June 17 and 24.
Construction in June at both schools will begin with gutting instructional spaces and then prepping them for upgrades to electrical wiring, sprinkler systems, and other minor mechanical features for installation in July. Framing for the new instructional spaces at the middle school will begin June 24.
Roofing contractors staged roofing products on Friday, June 9 at both school locations in preparation for the roof replacement in the coming weeks. They will be starting the demolition at both schools the week of June 12, weather pending. The roofing contractors will have dumpsters delivered, which will be placed between the main entrance and the lobby gym.
Spartan Construction will continue to work at the elementary school caulking windows, painting soffits, and infilling old univent exterior vents. They are currently on track to finish working at the elementary school towards the end of the week (week of 6/12) and then moving to the middle school to work on the stucco project in the alley by the drama shed, weather pending. They will be placing a dumpster next to the drama shed for their demolition and repairs at the middle school.
The middle school main office asbestos abatement will start on Thursday, June 15. Abatement should take roughly one week and have the results of the air test samples back before the end of the month. Installation of the temporary flooring carpet tiles in the office will take place the week of June 26. The main office staff will be moved back into their offices by the start of July.
