Mechanical Design and Smart Products

Askim Videregående Skole, Norway

7th - 13th April 2019

The topic of the second students' meeting was mechanical design. The first part of the week consisted of workshops prepared by the students. After an introduction and ice-breaking activities for students from different countries, the program continued with a workshop by the Czech and Austrian students. Short videos about programming in the SolidWorks 3D CAD software platform were presented.

The second part of the program took place in the Dynatec company. The plan was focused on the principles of designing products in Industry 4.0. Students attended engaging workshops about programming in SolidWorks, mechanical design, and production of the smart products during the two days. They designed real product – a bottle opener – which was subsequently made using modern tools and machines.

The workshop participants were 7 pupils from each partner school and accompanying persons - teachers who for 4 months before solved job tasks created. Solving process and results of the work consulted these teachers and pupils together and shared (online conferencing, skype calls, shared cloud storage, social network, e-mails) already during the work before realizing the workshop C2 itself. All participants from all schools were, therefore, well prepared for the implementation of the workshop itself.

Sightseeing in towns of Oslo and Stromstad was also part of the event.
