Above is a list of the "100 1st Words" and "50 1st Verbs" children develop. Pick a word or two that are not yet in your child's vocabulary to focus on each day. If your word is "banana," you can use language such as, "peel banana," "cut banana," "let's eat banana," "bananas are fruit," and/or "yellow banana has brown spots" when eating a real banana. If you have a pretend banana, you can play kitchen and "make" a fruit salad, smoothie and/or a banana split. You can even listen to songs and books on YouTube about bananas: Apples and Bananas and Pete the Cat and the Bad Banana.
