Literacy
During the months of October and November our school wide literacy focus is on recognizing and generating rhyming words. This is a great time to read rhyming stories at home.
During the months of December and January our school wide literacy focus is on segmenting words and sentences. Stomp out three and four word sentences for additional practice at home.
During the months of February and March our school wide literacy focus is on segmenting syllables in words. Practice clapping out one to four syllable words for additional practice at home.
During the months of April and May our school wide literacy focus is on hearing the beginning and ending sounds of words. For a challenge, some students may be able to sound out CVC words (Consonant, Vowel, Consonant).
